My goal in mentoring is to help cultivate the future scientific leaders of our society – in academia, non-profits, industry, or government. If you join our lab, you can expect me and others in the lab to invest substantial time and energy helping you succeed. By the same token, you will be expected to bring curiosity, independence, humor, creativity, and dedication to your research and to your participation in our community. If that sounds good to you and our scientific interests overlap, please be in touch.

Undergraduate Students

We are currently recruiting 1 undergraduate student, with preference for sophomores or juniors. We aim to have 2-4 undergraduate students actively involved in research in the lab at any given time. We expect undergraduates to learn appropriate conduct and techniques in the lab by assisting existing projects. After a semester, we encourage our undergraduates to fully engage in the research process by developing their own research projects. We often accept Aresty and RIOS summer students in the lab.

Graduate Students

We do not currently have funding for any graduate students. However, if you are pursuing outside funding through fellowships (such as the NSF GRFP, NDSEG, EPA STAR, and the Nancy Foster Scholarship) and wish to explore options in the lab, please contact me with a description of your interests and how they fit into our lab along with a CV, GPA and GRE scores (if available).  Students can apply through the Oceanography and Ecology & Evolution graduate programs. Application deadlines are in January but the deadline to be considered for internal Rutgers' fellowships is December 15th.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Please email me if you are considering applying for a Rutgers EOAS postdoctoral fellowship or to explore other fellowship and joint funding opportunities.
