Research interests: My research interests broadly include marine disease ecology and coastal community ecology. In particular, I am interested in boom-bust population dynamics of sea urchins that can drive phase shifts between alternative ecosystem states, viz. kelp beds and sea urchin barrens in temperate regions, and coral reefs and turf algal-dominated reefs in the tropics.
